I am both really happy and kinda sad at the same time. I am so desperate to get back to a normal daily routine. So done with the "whatever goes" kind of day. Very much looking forward to structure.
But on the other hand, it's almost September and my daughter is going back to school and I feel like the summer has gone by and we didn't do enough.
I keep reminding myself that I am a work at home mom and not a stay at home mom. I still have work to do...so I can't just do whatever I want every day. Besides, most things take money and we just don't have it.
I got a lot done in July...added almost 30,000 words to my manuscript. The plan was to take August to edit the first half of the book- Karma Kameleon, the sequel to A Bitch Named Karma. And that went well...for like the first two weeks. But the last two....didn't do anything at all. Which is fine...maybe I needed to just chill anyway.
So, here we are....week til school starts. Already have some plans for this afternoon. And tomorrow hubby is off, so we have plans for then too.
Hope the rest of your summer goes well!

I've been in the same place. It's a pull between wanting to make the most of my time with the kids and getting the work done that needs to be done.
ReplyDeleteI'm so lucky we live in a place with lots of free things to do: hiking trails and all of the Washington DC monuments and Smithsonians and the zoo. We even have a local baseball team that's got buck night.
Still, it seems we still don't do enough. But the kids like the down time. It's hectic during the year. So maybe a little chilling is good for all of us. :)
It is so hard to say goodbye to summer... but on the bright side... we have fall to look forward to !!!
ReplyDeleteHeidi, that is it exactly. I am always torn. If I spend an entire day writing, I worry that I should have been spending the day with my husband and kids. But if I spend the day gallivanting with them, I feel guilty that I didn't work on my WIP or edit. I live in Buffalo NY, so there are a decent amount of free things here too...but there's always some kind of festival or something going on and that stuff takes money.
ReplyDeleteTeenage Bride, I am so looking forward to fall....we usually take a trip in the fall and this year is no exception! :)
I was left with that "we didn't do enough" this past summer too when I was babysitting kids. Then, I remembered that it was exhaustingly hot and we did do a lot, it was just a lot together at home.
ReplyDeleteIt seems no matter how hard I try, I'm always left with that "I didn't do enough" feeling at the end of the summer. I started out with some lofty goals for both writing but most of them didn't happen. I wanted to loose a bunch of weight this summer and well, between the barbeques and whatnot, that didn't happen. Time just flies so quickly.
ReplyDeleteBut Fall has it's own fun things to do. Plan a day to take the kids apple picking! and come October there's pumpkin carving.
I just wanted to let you know I received your book...thanks so much!! I'm on chapter two right now, I'm reading it in between classes and homework. I'll post a review on my blog as soon as I'm done with it...
