Nothing says 'I love you' like....

Many people scoff at Valentine's Day and insist we don't need one day to celebrate love...we should do it every day. And while I do agree and try very hard to always show my love for my husband, family, and friends, one day a year dedicated to love isn't a bad idea!

For busy people, like me and my husband, with kids and jobs and appointments and this and that, sometimes celebrating love is kinda of pushed to the side. This holdiay reminds us to set aside everything else and celebrate the love we have for each other.

And I don't mean by shelling out big bucks for flowers, candies, cards, stuffed animals... (My husband and I have an inside joke..every Valentine's Day when the stuff comes out, every time he sees a stuffed monkey holding a stuffed heart, he says "Nothing says 'I Love You' like a stuffed primate!" But we do enjoy a night out though, a dinner alone, just us to reconnect, but we like to do that all year, not just on Valentine's Day. And the restaurants are crazy today anyway.

I worked in the floral business for many many years, so I know first hand what it's like to be on that side of the fence on Valentine's Day. Not really all that fun and romantic. I remember one year working 9 am until 3 am (yeah....18 hours!) and then having to be back at 9 am again. And just so you all know, the florists don't raise prices on roses just cause they want to. The suppliers charge triple the cost because the growers need to hire more workers and bump up production, and therefore, also need to charge more.

So tonight we are staying home. I am making a new recipe for dinner that sounds like something everyone will love (A bacon meatloaf! And it's a low fat recipe...not sure how that works..but hey, I'll try it!) I bought a box of brownie mix last night (also low fat. I guess we'll see how that comes out!) and I will make a glaze for it and dye it red. I also bought some cute pink and white sprinkles with some red hearts mixed in. The kids will love that.

What are your plans for tonight???

Show Me the Love Blogfest!

So excited for this!!!

HUGE thanks to all my participants!!! Please click here for the original post and the list of blogs to visit! Can't wait to go read your posts!!!

And without further ado, my answers!!

1- What is the most romantic thing anyone has ever done for you?

This is going to sound super silly, but one of the most romantic things my husband does for me is warm my side of the bed. No one likes a frigid bed, but sometimes my hubby will go in before me and lay on my side and get it all toasty. Then when I come in, he rolls to his cold side. Is there anything sweeter than that??

2- What is your favorite love song?

Well, there are so so many great love songs out there. Hubby and me have many that we love, but I have to pick Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton. It was our wedding song..timeless and classic.

3- Do you have a favorite romantic movie or book?

I am a huge fan of rom-coms..that's what I watch, what I read, and what I love to write!! Movies that make me swoon: Overboard, You've Got Mail, Pretty Woman, the Wedding Planner

4- Do you have any romantic plans for Valentine's Day this year?

We've never been ones to go out and spend tons of money to show each other how much we care. In the past, we've gone out to a nice dinner, but if you've ever done that in V-day, you know how crazy busy restaurants are. With the actual holiday being a Monday this year, we probably won't do much. We usually go to the gym after hubby gets home from work, so I really can't see us deviating from that!! LOL!!

5- What's your favorite romantic treat?

One treat that seems very romantic to me is fondue. But it's probably more the ambiance and conversation than anything. Most times, when you go out to dinner, you talk, and then the food is laid in front of you and silence hits the table as you dig in. we love to visit The Melting Pot a couple times of year, They have these super romantic "pods" we call them. They're little booths for two and they are pretty private. Since you have to wait for your meat to cook, the meal takes a while. We are usually there for 2 hours and love every minute!

My FIRST EVER Blogfest!!!!!

Oh I am so excited for this!!! Lots of fun things to come in 2011 and we'll start off with my first ever blogfest!!

I've participated in them before and have always enjoyed them! It's a great way to meet new people and share something too!

I'm calling it Show Me the Love Blogfest!

There's only a few rules. First of all, answer these questions:

1- What is the most romantic thing anyone has ever done for you?

2- What is your favorite love song?

3- Do you have a favorite romantic movie or book?

4- Do you have any romantic plans for Valentine's Day this year?

5- What's your favorite romantic treat? (candy, chocolate, edible body paint, etc...)

Then, on February 14th, post your answers and/or pictures to the questions above by 10:00 AM EST. And make sure you visit the other participant's blogs that day to see what they said!! Let's have fun with this!!!

All participants will be entered into a drawing to win a signed copy of A Bitch Named Karma. (But just signing up does not mean you are a participant. You need to actually post for the Blogfest that day!) If my participant list reaches 100, I'll give away an extra digital copy. If we reach 150 participants, I'll give away another digital copy!!!!! Plus I have some copies of the Chicken Soup for the Soul books I am featured in, and all winners will receive one of those too!!! I'm hoping to draw in some new followers!! So if my follower list reaches 250, I'll give away a fun candy-filled prize featuring all my favorites!! (Yeah...you don't want to miss that....Reese Cups, Snickers, Swedish Fish, Butterfingers....)

Note: I will only ship to the US. I'm sorry :( I've had trouble in the past shipping internationally. If you win, I can most definitely email you a digital copy of A Bitch Named Karma!

So please share this with everyone you know...the more participants, the more prizes I give away!!

****EDITED TO ADD*****

Okay, apparently the "free" Linky tool I chose now charges a fee to use, so I can no longer use the one I had. (The site swears it sent notices to members...I do not recall getting it.) This completely sucks. My participant list is gone. New participants will be able to sign up with a new linky thing, but the participants already signed up will just have to be like this. (Click the titles for a direct link)

And my apologies...for some reason, some of the links did not work. But they should all be fixed now!!
