The Big Fabulous Summer Giveaway!

It's been a loooooong time since I've done a fun contest! And with summer coming, I feel the need to celebrate and get ready for it!!! How about you?? I am so ready for a relaxing summer with lots of fun!

As a kid, I loved summer. I mean, seriously, who didn't? I think my favorite part was having nothing to do. Everyday was Saturday. My family camped seasonally at a family campground, and every weekend that's where we went as soon as my dad got home from work. I had lots of friends there and we always had so much fun. So many amazing memories of sunny summer days swimming in the lake, and warm summer nights with cute boys. ;)

So I want to celebrate summer and it's fun and freedom. No matter how old I am, I will always bask in the joy of warmer temps and lazy days!

The contest starts today and will run until June 15th! LOTS of time to enter and keep earning more entries! I'll announce the winners on my blog on Monday, June 17th! :)

And I know you're wondering...what about the prizes!!! Here is a list of what I have come up with so far! I will be adding more as time goes on. There will be lots of prizes, so many people will win! AND entrants will be able to win multiple prizes!! I plan on getting together some kind of grand prize too. I'll have to see what awesome things I can come up with! :) So, without further ado, here is the list:

- $5 GC to Amazon or B&N, winner's choice.
- $10 GC to Amazon or B&N, winner's choice.
- Digital copies of my Karma books- A Bitch Named Karma and Karma Kameleon (in whichever format the winner chooses).
- Digital copy of my book Paradise Cove.
- Digital copy of my book Soap Dreams.
- Bath and Body Works Pocket Bacs Hand Sanitizer! Five winners, scent selected at random- Margarita, Pink Lemonade, Flip Flop Fruit, Wildberry, and Island Nectar. (US only.)

- Nail buffers and Cake Batter lip balm! Two winners! (Each will win one buffer and one lip balm. US only.)

- Nail polish and polish remover pads! Two winners! (Each winner will receive one polish and one container of remover pads. US only.)

And I finally came up with a grand prize. It's nothing major, but it is something I really would love to keep for myself! So that gives it value, to me, anyway!

- A cool water bottle and box of yummy single serving iced tea packets! (US only)

And who knows...I may add more!!

To NaNo or not to NaNo?????? And Contest winner!

I've decided to NaNo this year. But I'm being a rebel. Technically you are supposed to start a new project for National Novel Writing Month...but I'm not. I have a book I started earlier this year and need to finish by the end of the year (It was one of my New Year's Resolutions). So, I decided to participate in NaNo this year and finish it. Not sure if I'll need the full 50K to do it, but we'll see. It's at 41K now....so I need at least another 40K.

But I'm delayed by a day or two. Two weeks ago I made a personal goal to revise and do one edit of an old project that's been on my hard drive for years. This story is really great (I think, anyway) and after these tweaks, I think it might finally find a home out in the publishing world. But I just didn't have enough time to finish. I'm only a day or two away, so NaNo will wait. I'm sure I can catch up.

So, without further ado.....the winner of my Spooktacular Blog Hop Giveaway is:

Holly Wright!!!

Thanks so much to everyone who entered!!

Pay it Forward!

Have you ever paid it forward??? I try to always live my life by treating people how I want to be treated and always giving the utmost respect. I try to help others as much as I possibly can, but I do admit, sometimes my time is limited. Kids and a home take up quite a bit of time. But I do what I can!!!

In my writers group, I sometimes have newbie writers ask if I can review their work, give some advice, etc... So even when my writing time is limited, I try to help out my fellow writers whenever I can!! And the seasoned vets in my group...they've helped me out numerous times and I am completely thankful!! I would not be where I am today without their help and endless support!!!

And a different kind of help, that I thoroughly enjoy giving, is Disney Advice. I am a huge fan of Disney World and after several trips, I am pretty good at planning!! I even started my own Disney Blog to help others plan their trips!!

I am also talking about paying it forward becuase Shelli at market My words is hosting a FANTABULOUS contest called Pay It Forward Contest!! Please check it out!! The prize is a great one...her personal recommendation to her agent for the winning pitch! Sweet!!

Practise makes perfect???

Well, I am officially in editing mode for the first half of Karma Kameleon, the sequel to A Bitch Named Karma. I'm excited to be doing this. I am one of those writers who can just write and write and not edit while in writing mode. I know many writers who have trouble with self editing....and scrutinize every word the second they type it. My process has always been to get the story out and fix it later.

But I wonder if the more I do it, will the "fixing" part get easier? I can tell with every project that my writing gets stronger and tighter. I make far less grammar mistakes as I am constantly re-learning all those rules I learned in elementary school. I've already been through the editing process with a professional editor and I know I have learned so much from her. My hope is that now, it will all be a bit easier..less work will have to be done afterward!

Well, bloggers, today is the last day to sign up for my A Bitch Named Karma giveaway!!!! Get your comments in to qualify!!!! Click here for the post!

Vacation is over...back to work!

I took a week off..last week...and did no work. I did not stay off the computer though and I did still check blogs and stuff like that. But I did not work on my current WIP...well...that's a lie. There was one afternoon where the kids were outside playing on the slip n slide...and since that is not an activity I will partake in, I took my notebook out and wrote the next scene.

But this week gave me a nice break and a much needed step away from the story. It's always nice to step back and re-evaluate.

So now that I am back, the plan is to spend the next two weeks editing the first 40,000 words of the story. Luckily, I am one of those people who can write write write and not look back. I know many writers who struggle with self editing...the second they type out a sentence, they scrutinize it and can't move on `til it's just right. I can write it all out and move on without even a read-through. I do need to read over the last page or scene when I come back to the story to remember where I left off.

These two weeks will be spent reading over the first half of my story and checking for typos and grammar errors, but also to make sure the story is going where I want it to and that no small plotline is left in limbo.

I'm kind of excited! I really haven't read over much of this story. Looking forward to going back!

And don't forget!! Sign up for my contest! I'm giving away a signed copy of A Bitch Named Karma!!! Click here for the post!!

Do blog contests draw readers in???

Can I ask my bloggy friends out there, why do you do contests?? Is it just for fun? Or do you hope to get something out of it?? More followers? A boost in sales??? I'm really curious as to your reasons for doing it.

I did one contest on my blog a while back. I had seen others do them and it seemed like a neat idea! Give away a cool prize (make someone's day) and maybe boost my follower list in the process!

But I was a little disappointed. I only had about 10-12 entrants and my follower list only bumped up by 2 or 3. But I did enjoy making someone's day! :)
