Dragged myself out of bed....

Pretty much every day this is my morning ritual. I'm not one of those people who can jump out of bed with a smile the second the alarm goes off...or heaven forbid, one of those who wakes before the alarm and shuts it off. I am just not a morning person.

Last night my son was up a couple times. Once, I think he was cold. The second, he had a pretty full diaper and needed to be changed, and since it was leaking a bit, I had to change his pj's too. So a night of sleep being interrupted twice makes it even harder for me to put my feet to the floor in the morning.

I don't know about you, but I have a time I know I absolutely have to be out of bed by. But instead of setting the alarm for that time, I set it earlier so I can allow myself to stay in bed and be lazy, listen to the radio for a bit. The alarm clicks on at 7 and as long as I am out of bed by 7:30, we're good. Last year, I didn't have as much of a luxury...had to be out of bed by 7:10, 7:15 at the very latest. My daughter's bus comes 20 minutes later this year.

But every morning while I lay there, fighting to keep my eyelids open, I swear I will be in bed at 10 that night and catch up on sleep. But you know what....at 10, I will be wide awake...no where near ready to go to sleep! I am a total night owl. I could stay up all night.

So how about you...morning person or night owl??

  2. Once I'm out of bed, I'm good...it's just getting my eyelids to stay open!

  4. I guess I've been lucky. My only real full time job, that I had for 5 years before quitting to pursue my business and have my daughter, I started work at 9 and lived 3 miles away. I slept til 8. And now, my daughter's late bell at school is 9. I know that will change when she goes to the big school for 4th grade! The little kids start latest!

  5. I'm going to have to say I'm more of a morning person than a night owl but I don't consider myself either, lol.

I have to be up by 5 so I can be out the door by 6 because of traffic to the office. I'm jealous of your 7:30 am time. Boo.

I've missed visiting your blog!! So glad I stopped by! My life has been all to hectic and it's been nice traveling the blog world!

  6. You sound just like me! I'm a total night owl, but I keep trying to convert to a morning person. I also set my alarm 30 minutes before I actualy have to get out of bed. I love that 30 minutes of really light dozing when my mind works overtime. I've had a lot of great ideas come from that pseudo-sleep.

  7. Definitely a night person. I've had a job for 7 years now where I have to be there at 7 in the morning, and I still am not use to waking up that early. I usually am asleep by 10:30 or 11, so no real loss of sleep, just can't get my butt up that early.

  8. I'm definitely a night owl. And I do the same thing, but I'm so bad, I need to set my first alarm to go off an hour before I need to get up. Then I set it to go off every 15 minutes (moving down to ten and then five as it gets closer).... lol, pathetic right?

  9. Oh definitely an night owl here. Ask me to stay up 'til whenever and I'm good. Ask me to get up early and...well, way less good.

  10. My body is a night owl, except my brain insists on being a teacher. So I have to be to work (with two kids in tow) by 7:30 during the school year. But summers are a different story (assuming my kids sleep past 7, that is).

Hope you're still planning on joining our blogfest tomorrow - we'd love to see your mug!

  11. Just b/c I work a day-job doesn't make me a morning person. I hit the sleep alarm at least three times before getting up.

I had the bright idea to set it for the time I know I'll actually get out of bed just to see if I'd just get up.

    Nope; got to work late.

Why can't I just get up when I please, go to bed when I need to, and still earn money. So unfair . .
