What do you like to read about in a blog post??

I follow a ton of blogs and do my best to read and comment as much as I can. But when I scroll through my blog list, I'll be honest...the title has to catch my eye and interest me. My blog reading time is often limited.

There are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many posts offering writing advice and some of them are truly invaluable. They are great sources for all writers in various stages of the journey.

But sometimes I kinda get bored with those posts.

I like reading about writers and their lives...not to be nosey or anything, but I like to read and know that I am not alone in this journey and I like to learn more about people...not just writing related things.

So what attracts you to a post???

I started my weekly Hunksday posts a few months back and I have to say, it is quite fun! Life can't be all business...we need to relax sometimes.

  1. I just love reading people's views on various issues, as well as snippets from their lives!

  2. What I click on depends I think on what I'm feeling that particular day. Some days I only want to read the writer advice posts, and on others that's really not going to hold my attention at all. Pictures also intrigue me. I do love your Hunksday posts!!!

  3. I do the same thing, pick blog posts to read based off of title. Guess I should pay more attention to my own blog titles? I started a new feature on my blog yesterday... I'll post a picture to spark creativity so hopefully that will draw people to my blog.

  4. I've been thinking about this too. My tastes have changed as I've gone through the process of writing. It used to be all about the agent blogs, and then I wanted to read about writing. But now, since I have a published book I'm less excited about reading people's opinions and advice on writing and I lean more towards wanting to read about their lives... both as writers and as people.

In that way, too, my own blog has changed. Less writing advice and guidelines and more just my life. I've noticed over time my readers have changed, too. That's okay. :)

  5. I always appreciate the writing tips, but it's fun to actually get to know people a little bit too.

  6. a snazzy title or picture always grabs my attention. i enjoy reading a little of this and a little of that - book reviews, about stranger's lives, recipes -- this month I'm all about once a month cooking sites, recipes and swaps. of course, pretty much anything disney related gets a once over from me -- especially since tim and i are sneaking away for a long weekend in .. 14 days! Wahoo!

  7. I gravitate to humorous posts or clever posts, the subject is great in those usually, and some days I like down to earth posts or poetry and short pieces. it just depends on my mood.

  9. I think the most important thing about any blog post is that the author is sincere and authentic. My favorites are those that I can either relate to or can learn from.

  11. The Hunksday posts are great! I also love posts that get me motivated and/or make me laugh. I love to laugh and I love to make people smile as well.

Keep is simple sometimes and humorous as well! I love to laugh at myself and so I love post where bloggers offer themselves up for the sake of humor. ;-)
