Got my mom a Kindle for Christmas!

Prices have finally made it affordable for me to give a Kindle as a gift! I debated last year on getting one for my mom....going on on it with my brothers. But I wasn't sure. So I held off. But this year, Target had a FANTASTIC deal on the Kindle 3g...only $84 on Black Friday. Luckily they had them when I got there.

So I have the device and have opened it and set it up and played with it. I uploaded a bunch of freebies for her and also bought her a couple of my favs. I'm really excited to give it to her. She reads all the time. My only hope is that it isn't too complicated for her. My parents are not tehno savvy people. It is super simple for me to navigate...I only hope mom will get it. Last thing I want is for her to get frustrated and set it down and not use it.

Anyone else get a great deal on an eReader as a Christmas gift???

  1. I don't think it will be too complicated. Kindles are so user-friendly! I talked my hubby into letting me have a Kindle Fire. :)

  2. Yeah, I think the Kindle is much easier to work (speaking as a Sony veteran like you are, we got the trial by fire, right?). I got my mom the Kobo a couple years ago, and had to help her out a little with it, but now she can do it all on her own. Kindle is even easier.

In fact, I asked for Kindle myself this year. Am pretty much over my Sony now.

For moms (or even people my age when our eyes are tired), the larger text size option is a Godsend. And I think reflowing for larger fonts is better on Kindle than some other devices, too.

Your mom's gonna love you! And just think, you don't have to share the glory like you would've, going in with the brothers. LOL

  3. Kindle's are super easy to use! She'll love it!

I bought my son a Nook touch. I was going to go with the kindle but I found out the price I thought it was came with ads on it, and I didn't want to give my son books with ads. He's inundated enough with that commercialism. I ended up finding the Nook for $79!
